In-Depth Penobscot White Water Rafting Trip Information:
The adventure checks in at 8:00am at our base camp in Millinocket, Maine. We outfit your group with all the essential gear for the day. To go Penobscot white water rafting you’ll need a paddle, personal floatation device (for insurance purposes you must use our’s), and a helmet. After we gear up the crews for the day we have a trip briefing which lets guests know what to expect. Next, we load the bus and go white water rafting.
The first rapid, Class IV Nesowdnahunk Falls, is the most challenging of the rafting trip. Children under 10 and hesitant guests can walk around it if they choose. After Nesowdnahunk Falls the trip visits a natural white water slide. We park the rafts, hike up a small distance, and slide back down to them . Next, there is an opportunity to float and relax followed by three fun Class II-IV rapids. Abol Falls is a rolling Class IV rapid with two big waves to bust through. The next rapid is a fun Class II rapid called Little Poc where people can try the “Death Slot”. This really isn’t too challenging, but it has a cool name. The last rapid before lunch is Big Poc, a Class IV, which is a great introduction to the after lunch Gorge Section of The Full Penobscot River Trip.
A BBQ lunch of grilled steak, chicken, or veggie burger awaits as soon as you get off the river. After lunch you can enjoy the rest of your day in Maine. The slide show of your trip will be available online in a few days. Once you book your adventure, please fill out our online waiver.
