Get your Level I and II Maine Whitewater Guides License and a summer job with us!
Would you like a summer job in guiding white water rafting trips? First you must become a registered Maine White Water Guide. To become a Maine Whitewater Guide you must train with an outfitter, Penobscot Adventures, pass the State exam, and be trained in at CPR and at least Basic First Aid. Basic first Aid and CPR courses are available from the Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Our Level I Maine White Water Rafting Guide Training will be held June 15th-21st. The training will include steering a raft, safety, river rescue, river etiquette, daily trip procedure, and industry standards. Everything you need to become a Level 1 Maine Whitewater Guide certified on the Lower Penobscot, Dead, and the Kennebec rivers, except for First Aid and CPR. Please complete these courses before signing up for training.
The cost of the training is $250. The fee includes your camping, a training manual, and use of all needed equipment (wet suits, life jackets, and paddle). You will be responsible for your meals. Limited to 8 the training class books quickly, if you’re interested you let us know right away. The price of training will be refunded if you are available to work on our 4 busiest weekends
Our Level II school will be held June 22nd +23rd on the Penobscot River. It is free for our Level I students or $150 if you got your Level I license with another outfitter.
After you have completed the guide training you will be ready to take the State exam for the Kennebec River, Dead River, and Lower Penobscot and become a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide, Level I. The application/testing fee is $103.00 plus $89.00 for a three-year license. Once you have 6 commercial trips and complete Level 2 training your license upgrades free of charge.

- A copy of your First Aid and CPR (get a class here Red Cross)
