No flat water. No run-limits. We run until your done.
Who can go Riverboarding?
Participants must be able to swim, and should not be afraid of water.
-Riverboarding is a solo activity, and while our trips are guided, the most dependable swimmer is always yourself. You don't need be an Olympian, but you must be able to propel yourself in water. If you are unable to swim, rafting might be a better place to start.
Participants must be in good physical health.
-Riverboarding is individually paced, but the sport is physical. Here is what to expect:
- Kicking through the water with a pair of fins while lying prone on your stomach
- Hiking a quarter mile of beautiful yet sometimes uneven terrain carrying your five pound riverboard
- Maintaining a high pulse through repeated bursts of fun.
Penobscot Adventures can make no attempt to assess the physical capability of its clients. We are great guides, but poor physicians. Please ask your doctor if riverboarding is right for you.

Maine
Riverboarding
Riverboarding is an unique whitewater experience, and absolute fun. Very popular in other countries, riverboarding is relatively new to American whitewater. Penobscot Adventures is proud to be the only riverboarding outfitter in the Maine, offering fully guided trips capable of satisfying every whitewater skill-level and appetite. Our professional standards of whitewater safety, guarantee you quality fun.
What is Riverboarding?
Riverboarding is using an oversized boogie board, PFD, helmet, fins, and wetsuit to run rapids and surf river waves and holes. We started running Riverboard trips in 2008, to rave reviews.
Our guided trips take place on the Penobscot River in the Big Eddy and Amberjack rapids. We operate in a park & play style, which means you will never be asked to run a section of whitewater beyond your comfort level, and furthermore, you will be able to run the river and surf as many times as you like, accompanied and instructed by professional guides.
